I’ve been struggling all week with what to write about but my schedule has been a little nuts. This past week was my 62nd birthday so there were family get-togethers and dinners out, which I loved but took away from writing time. I had no real luck at the coffee shop this morning so I came back to work in my office hoping a change of scenery would help. But nothing was working.
Then I went back through a long list of Man Skills I keep to share with guys. These range from how-to directions to what is best described as modern proverbs for men. These are part of the wisdom I’ve collected over 62 years and I know they work so I decided to share a few of my favorites.
Luck is when opportunity collides with preparation.
Just because you can doesn’t mean you should.
Always verify, never assume.
If it’s important, write it down,
Manners will take you places money can’t.
You will never change your life until you change what you do on a daily basis
Truth is never dependent on a consensus of opinion
Wise men welcome correction
Never invest in something you don’t understand
Remember this when dealing with haters, there are some people you don’t want to like you.
Do you want to be remembered for the problems you solved or the ones you created?
I am not a product of my circumstances, I am a product of my decisions
When someone gets something for nothing, someone else gets nothing for something
The more skills you have the more employable you are.
And lastly, one for you to think about this week:
There will come a day when you’ll have to prove you are the man you think you are. Will you be ready?
Good luck guys! Use these to help you become the best version of yourself.
Proverbs for the Modern Man
