#25- Dee’s Three’s

I’m a big believer in breaking down difficult or complicated tasks into smaller pieces. I also like to come up with short, easy to remember mantras that will help me handle the daily junk every man deals with. I call them Dee’s Three’s.

Here’s a few of my favorites:

  • Protect Provide, Lead are what every man is designed and assigned to do.

  • Do what’s right, do your best, put others first

  • Body Mind Spirit are the three areas of every man’s life he needs to manage and monitor.

  • Satan always uses these 3 ways to attack a man: Passion, Possession, and Position. This is from 1 John 2:16

  • When faced with a difficult choice always ask "Is this the wise thing to do in light of my: Past Experience, Current Circumstances, Future Hopes and Dreams”

  • All men need to be “Quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to get angry” (James 1:19)

  • 3 “A’s,” that make internet porn so dangerous; it’s accessible, affordable, and anonymous

  • You only need three main prayers in life: Help, Thanks, and Wow - Anne Lamott

  • Improvise, Adapt, Overcome when life gets tough

  • Time is our most valuable asset, yet we tend to waste it or spend it rather than invest it

  • Have a plan, work your plan, plan for the unexpected- Coach “Bear” Bryant

  • Three components of a performance review- what the person needs to: stop, start and continue. This works on yourself as well as others

  • Great dads are firm, fair, consistent

  • 3 Parts of a real apology- I'm sorry, it's my fault, what can I do to make it right?

  • When hiring someone examine: Their personal Character, How they mesh with the Chemistry of the team they’ll be part of and their level of job Competency. In that order.

  • 3 life gauges to keep an eye on so you don’t blow up:

    • Money-constantly track how much you: make, have, and owe

    • Time- organize your to-do list into 3 categories: must do, should do, could do

    • Health- Track you weight, exercise and sleep

  • Ability is what you're capable of doing, Motivation determines what you do, Attitude determines how well you do it. - Loug Holtz

  • 3 steps to becoming wise: read more books, ask great questions, listen with intensity.

  • 3 keys to success in any job/career: show up on time, solve problems on your own, and be a team player

  • Before you talk about someone, ask yourself: Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?

  • Don't promise when you're happy. Don't reply when you're angry. Don't decide when you're sad.

  • Three buckets for your money: sharing, saving, spending (in that order!)

  • 3 ways smart men go broke: Liquor, Ladies, Loans -Charlie Monger

  • Every guy needs one of these on a regular basis: Kick in the ass, Pat on the back, and Arm around shoulder

Print this list out and tape it to your bathroom mirror or keep it on your phone so you can start thriving instead of just surviving.
